She's arrived!

Hello!

Well, I'm a little overdue in my postings, but our beautiful baby girl has arrived!
She made her debut on may 26, 2007 weighing a whole 6 lbs 13.5 oz! We named her Krynn Avery, and she couldn't be more perfect.

I've had 3 months to rest, and am now ready to begin painting again. Around the end of September, beginning of October I start getting slammed with Christmas orders, so if you know that you will be wanting furniture for your loved ones, be sure to order early! Little Boy Sports Table Set

Hi everyone,

So sorry for the long delay in posting! With being pregnant and then traveling and painting for the holidays, we've been super busy.

Here's a picture of my most recent set that I think is just adorable. It's fun when I do get to paint a boy's themed set, but this sports theme was a fun first for me.

I'd love to hear comments on this table set! Happy Holidays, and I'll definitely be posting more table set pictures more often now that I have alot of Christmas orders to fill. I still have a few slots open for painted furniture for Christmas, so feel free to contact me if you need special, hand painted Christmas gifts for your children or grandchildren!

My first square table set!

Here's a picture of my very first square table set using the upgraded sets. I love how this turned out! Of course, it's always fun when I get to do a boy and girl theme all in one. It lets me use both girl and boy clor schemes, so it keeps it interesting. The round tables are a little more difficult, so I will be charging a little more for those. I didn't know until I painted my first one (seen below). Anyway, this makes it much easier to tell more about the sets when you see them painted, versus only seeing the pictures of the plain wood sets.

Well, I finally go to paint one of my new table sets! this one was a round table, and most of them will be square, but it's still a great example of how the overall table sets with artwork look. I've got two more orders right now, and will post those pics as I get them painted since they're the square sets.

Well, this has nothing to do with my artwork, but I'm so excited and wanted to post our great news!

We just found out Thursday, and I'm almost 5 weeks along. I guess now I have to get started on painting some furniture and artwork for our own baby! :)

Christmas Orders

Normally, beginning the first week of October up to Christmas is when I wish that I had an extra pair of hands to paint my table sets! I go from August and September being my worst time of year due to summertime and back to school, to October-December being my busiest time. I normally list 3 table sets for sale on Ebay at a time, but I also sell outside of Ebay as well. If you would like to purchase a table set for Christmas or anytime before then, please feel free to contact me for a timeline of when your artwork will be ready. I generally tend to be alot faster than I give myself time for, but I think it's just because I love seeing what comes out once I start to work on a piece. I love knowing that alot of times I'm creating a present that a child will grow up remembering. That special place where a child got to eat supper, a place to sit and do his or her own artwork. Their own little customized space in this world!

Hello!

I'd like to write a few questions that I've gotten from clients in the past, and also some questions to give you a little more background on Smoocherpoo Designs. Of course, I always welcome questions (and comments!) no matter how big or small, so ask away!

Is there a meaning behind your Ebay name?

Yes, and no. When my husband and I first got married, he would call me smoocherpoo as a fun nickname. About a year after we were married, he talked me into trying to sell some of my artwork that I had lying around on Ebay, but when I had to come up with an i.d., I had nothing! Then, he said "How about Smoocherpoo!?" Luckily I chose that name because now it fits perfectly with my chilren's artwork theme!

Have you always wanted to do children's furniture?

I honestly never really thought about it, until one day when I was out shopping and saw a cute, unfinished table and chairs set, so I thought it would be fun to paint. I painted it and listed it on Ebay and got about 12 bids, and it sold way more than what I listed it for...I was hooked! While that listing as up, I got questions from other Ebay members asking me if I could paint a custom set, or even other furniture for them, and I've been loving it ever since.

How long have you been selling on Ebay?

Who is your favorite Ebay artist?

I love all of the work of the ladies in my online groups, but I'd honestly have to say The Painted Cardinal. Her work is so amazing. She does portraits that are so life-like, you have to do a double take!

Who do you get your inspiration from?

Most designers of children's boutique-type items usually get their inspiration from their children. We currently do not have children, but I'd have to say that mine comes from both my wonderful husband and the parents that buy the artwork and furniture from me! I've met so many amazing clients over the years that have encouraged me with their kind words when I'd show them pictures of the progress I've made while designing their furniture, and especailly when it arrives and they email me right away so thilled to have it!

How many hours per week do you spend designing items for both Ebay and customs?

For items that I just design myself, and then list on Ebay, I'd say about 42 hours 7 days a week, and on customs, once I get started it's hard for me to put down the paintbrush, so I'll paint about 12 hours per day until I complete the piece that was commissioned. That's my number one compliment that I get, is how fast I am!

Do you sell outside of ebay?

Yes! I'm on quite a few boards (notice my second post on this site)and get contacted that way, and also through Ebay when someone sees my table sets, but wants to know if I paint other furniture. I just send them a Paypal invoice! I've sold about as many pieces outside of ebay as I have on Ebay!

As far as furniture goes, do you only paint table sets?

No! I love working with all furniture, and wall art! I've painted toddler beds, table sets, night stands, bookshelves, frames, footstools and many other items.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A Cosmetologist! I've always had a creative streak and knew it would be something related to that, but I never dreamed I'd be a professional artist. I thank my wonderful husband of five years for that. He encourages me and is happy that I work from home doing my dream job, and he's my biggest fan.

Tell us one thing about yourself that we may find surprising.

I can't pencil draw very well, so I freehand paint everything straight onto the piece I'm working on without ever drawing it first! :)

Table Sets Information

Recently, I decided to upgrade the table sets that I use. My previous sets that I use, and you see in my pictures, were pine without rounded corners. I wanted to use a better grade wood and rounded corners so that it is a little safer for the little ones. My new sets are made from solid alder wood, which is in the birch family and has a natural cherry appearance. They are sturdier and should last for your little ones to hand down to their children one day. (with normal treatment, that is!) So, the pictures in my examples are to show you my artwork only. I haven't painted on one of the new sets just yet, so I don't have photos to share of them painted. However, here are some photos of the sets I will be using from now on....all it needs is your wonderful ideas and my artwork to make it a true treasure!

Child's Table measures: 24"W x 24"D x 22 1/2"H
Child's Chair(s) measures: 12"W x 11 1/4"D x 25 1/2"H. Seat height 13 1/2"

I can get a round table if you prefer, just let me know before I order. The cost of my table sets with two chairs, customized is $265 with free UPS shipping. I can create a Paypal invoice for you, or if you'd prefer, you can go through Ebay to purchase a set. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me!

I have been painting and drawing since kindergarten, but it was about 5 years ago that I began selling my artwork on Ebay. I've always done projects for friends, family, coworkers, etc., but I never thought of selling online until I had some pieces that I painted in my spare time lying around, so my husband suggested that I give it a try and I've been hooked ever since!

Although you'll mostly see children's furniture and decor listed on Ebay or in my boutique sites, I paint grown-up art as well. I have painted murals, store signs, signs for schools, designed a beauty salon, canvas paintings and more. Children's furniture and wall art is where my heart is! I absolutely enjoy what I do and the friends that I make in the process.
